Microsoft has just introduced a new unified Teams app for Windows 11, Windows 10, and Mac, bringing together work, personal, and educational accounts into a single platform.
Previously, users of Windows 11 had to manage two separate Teams apps: one dedicated to work or educational purposes and another for personal use. This dual-app system often led to confusion and inconvenience, particularly for those juggling multiple accounts.
The new unified Teams app aims to solve these issues by providing a streamlined experience that consolidates all account types into one application.
Users can now quickly switch between their various Teams accounts by selecting their profile picture in the upper right corner of the app. This feature allows for seamless transitions between work, personal, and educational profiles, all within side-by-side windows.
Microsoft has also made it simpler to choose your preferred account when joining a Teams meeting. Whether you’re logging in to discuss a new project with colleagues or joining as a guest for a community event, the app allows you to select the appropriate account at the moment you join the meeting.
With the updated Teams app, users on Windows 10 and Mac can now take full advantage of Teams’ personal features for free. By signing in with a personal email, users can connect and collaborate with others at any time.
The updated Teams desktop app that supports all account types is now available for download, joining its counterparts on Android and Apple mobile devices.
For users who already have Teams installed on their desktops, the app will automatically update to the latest version. Those who haven’t yet installed Teams can download the app today at this link.
