UGO Wallet App to Get Killed in October, Save Your Info

UGO Mobile Solutions, the company behind the UGO Wallet app, has announced it will ditch consumer services to focus on business products. What does this mean? The UGO Wallet app will no longer be supported after October 15, 2024.

The e-gift card marketplace within UGO Wallet has already closed, and users can no longer buy or add new e-gift cards through the app.

The app’s homescreen now features a “Download All Cards as Photos” button, allowing users to save their card details directly to their iPhone or Android device’s photo gallery.

UGO’s email obtained by iPhone in Canada says users need to save gift card info before the app ends. UGO says users should consider deleting their account through the app settings as well.

“We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for being part of the UGO Wallet community,” read the email.

UGO Wallet for iOS was created nearly a decade ago, through a partnership between TD Canada and PC Financial, before Apple Pay had launched in the country. The app’s purpose was to let users add their loyalty cards to the app. Later updates introduced NFC payments for Android users.

Back in 2021, UGO Wallet tried to get users back again by offering up a free $10 Amazon gift card (looks like that effort failed).
