Microsoft Hosting Copilot ‘Wave 2’ Event on September 16

Microsoft has announced it plans to host a special event later this month, dedicated to the “next phase of Copilot innovation.” The event is aptly focused on the second wave of Copilot and AI innovations.

On September 16th, Microsoft will host its Copilot event on LinkedIn. The event will be hosted by CEO Satya Nadella as well as corporate vice president Jared Spataro. “Join us for a special event with Satya Nadella and Jared Spataro to learn about the next phase of Copilot innovation,” the description of the event reads. For those eager to tune in, the event starts at 11 AM ET/8 AM PT.

Microsoft hasn’t officially divulged exactly what to expect during the event. However, Tom Warren from The Verge reports that Microsoft is planning a rebrand of Copilot. Recently, Warren claimed that the company would rename Copilot in Word to ‘Microsoft 365 Copilot in Word’. Additionally, it’s believed Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 will be rebranded to ‘Microsoft 365 Copilot’.

Due to the upcoming event being business-focused, there’ll likely be new Copilot features announced for Microsoft 365. Microsoft is in a position where it needs to continue to entice users to sign up for the Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 subscription service. For each user, Canadians must shell out $40.70 each month to gain access to AI-powered chat functions and Copilot features across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Microsoft Copilot Pro may also be in the spotlight as the company would be wise to continue to flesh out its AI innovations for personal use subscribers, who sign up for the $27 CAD monthly service.

We’ll soon know more as Microsoft queues up announcements from the second wave of Copilot event later on September 16th.
