Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 Teased for 2025 Release

Beats is teasing the successor to its 2019 Powerbeats Pro wireless earbuds. Nearly six years after the initial release of the Powerbeats Pro line, Beats’ Powerbeats Pro 2 will launch in 2025.

In a short teaser posted on Instagram, Beats shows off its new pro-level buds. Though briefly shown, the Powerbeats Pro 2 are worn by Los Angeles Dodgers hitter Shohei Ohtani. The quick tease shows Ohtani taking a swing before cutting to the official use of the Powerbeats Pro 2 logo and confirming that the buds are “Coming 2025.”

We’re given a look at the newly designed in-ear design of the earbuds. Powerbeats Pro 2 retain that over-the-ear design that many users have acclimated to. “Everything an athlete needs,” the Instagram caption reads.

Unfortunately, other than the small look at the refreshed design, we’re not given too much information to glean from. Recently launched Beats products have been adopting custom-designed processors to accommodate both iPhones and Android devices. It’s likely Powerbeats Pro 2 will feature the same chipset and cross-compatibility.

Pricing is also another factor to keep an eye on. The original Powerbeats Pro is currently available for $329 in Canada. However, they often are discounted during Prime Day sales or during Boxing Day promotions. Given that Powerbeats Pro 2 will be a premium product in Beats’ catalogue, it’s possible that they’ll launch close to the $399 price point. However, that’s purely based on speculation.

Beats’ announcement comes days before Apple’s Glowtime event on September 9th. Alongside the iPhone 16, Apple is primed to announce the new AirPods.
