How to Watch PlayStation 5 ‘Technical Presentation’ Today

Today, Sony is hosting a nine-minute-long ‘PlayStation 5 Technical Presentation’, Hosted by the lead architect of the PlayStation 5 console, Mark Cerny.
In a PlayStation Blog, Sid Shuman, Senior Director of Sony Interactive Entertainment Content Communications, announced the news of the short presentation. “Join us for a streamed presentation hosted by Mark Cerny, Lead Architect of the PS5 console,” the blog post reads. The post continues to state, “The 9-minute Technical Presentation will focus on PS5 and innovations in gaming technology.”
Sony, unfortunately, doesn’t go on to state what the video will cover. That being said, many speculate on whether PlayStation will announce a new piece of hardware. Four years into the console generation cycle, PlayStation is due to announce a Pro-level version of the PlayStation 5 console. As it is tradition, a more powerful hardware SKU typically follows after a slim model is brought to market, which Sony released in 2023.
If a PlayStation 5 Pro is announced, it’s expected that the hardware will better support upscaled resolutions and frame rates, making it easier for developers to hit and maintain 60fps without as many concessions across visuals. PlayStation 5 Pro could also introduce better hardware accelerated raytracing on the system. The person best poised to speak on these topics would be none other than Cerny, a member of the PlayStation team who’s able to get in the weeds and speak to consumers and media about such technical innovations.
Naturally, this theoretical reveal brings up the conversation of price. In Canada, the PlayStation 5 Slim is available for $579.99. A hypothetical PlayStation 5 Pro could exceed this price, ranging upwards of $699 in the Canadian market.
For those interested in tuning in, the PlayStation 5 Technical Presentation will be held at 11 AM ET/8 AM PT. You can watch live on the official PlayStation YouTube channel or via the embedded video below.
