How to Move from Android to iPhone [Tutorial]

Did you buy a new iPhone 16 or iPhone 16 Pro from Apple today? If you did and you’re moving from Android to iPhone, Apple has released a new video tutorial detailing step-by-step on switching over.
If you’re ready to switch from an Android device to an iPhone or iPad, follow this easy tutorial using Apple’s “Move to iOS” app. This step-by-step guide will help you transfer your data smoothly.
It’s a simple process thanks to the Move to iOS app in the Google Play Store. Here’s an overview of the process to move from Android to iPhone, according to Apple:
Step 1: Prepare for the Transfer
- Download Move to iOS – Get the Move to iOS app from the Google Play Store on your Android device. If you can’t access the Play Store, you can scan the QR code on your new iOS device to get the app.
- Check Wi-Fi – Make sure Wi-Fi is enabled on your Android device.
- Connect to Power – Plug in both your Android and iOS devices to ensure they don’t run out of battery during the process.
- Check Storage – Ensure that your new iPhone or iPad has enough space to accommodate the content you’re transferring, including any data on your Micro SD card.
- Update Chrome (Optional) – If you want to transfer your Chrome bookmarks, make sure you update Chrome to the latest version on your Android device.
Step 2: Start the Transfer on Your Apple Device
- Set Up Your iOS Device – Turn on your new iPhone or iPad and follow the setup instructions on the screen.
- Choose ‘Move Data from Android’ – On the “Apps & Data” screen, tap Move Data from Android. If you’ve already set up your iOS device, you’ll need to reset it to access this option.
Step 3: Start the Transfer on Your Android Device
- Open the Move to iOS App – Launch the app on your Android device and tap Continue.
- Agree to Terms – Accept the terms and conditions and decide whether you want to share app data with Apple.
- Wait for a Code – On your iOS device, tap Continue when you see the “Move from Android” screen. A code will appear (either 10 digits or 6 digits).
Step 4: Connect Devices and Transfer Data
- Enter the Code – Enter the code displayed on your iPhone or iPad into your Android device.
- Connect to Wi-Fi – Your iPhone or iPad will create a temporary Wi-Fi network. Tap Connect on your Android to join this network.
- Choose Data to Transfer – Select the content you’d like to transfer, such as contacts, messages, photos, videos, and more.
- Wait for the Transfer to Complete – Keep both devices close together and plugged in until the transfer finishes. The time required depends on the amount of data.
Step 5: Complete Setup on Your iOS Device
- Finish Setting Up Your iPhone or iPad – After the transfer is complete, tap Continue on your iOS device and follow the remaining setup steps.
- Check Your Content – Ensure that all of your data has transferred correctly. You may need to download some apps from the App Store manually.
To ensure a successful transfer from Android to iOS, Apple says avoid using other apps or receiving calls on your Android device during the process, and disable cellular data to maintain a stable Wi-Fi connection.
If the transfer fails? Apple says try restarting both devices and attempt again. In case your iOS device runs out of storage, erase it and restart the transfer, ensuring the content fits within the available space.
