If you’ve recently upgraded your iPhone or need to reset it, knowing how to restore from an iCloud backup can help you quickly get back all your apps, settings, and data just as they were.

Here’s a detailed guide on how to restore your iPhone using an iCloud backup.

Step 1: Turn on Your iPhone

When you first power on your iPhone after a reset or when setting up a new device, you will be greeted by the “Hello” screen. This is where the restoration process begins.

If your device is already set up, you’ll need to erase all its content before you can restore from a backup. To do this, go to Settings > General > Reset, and choose Erase All Content and Settings.

Step 2: Begin the Setup Process

After turning on your iPhone, follow the on-screen setup instructions. You’ll be asked to choose a language, connect to a Wi-Fi network, and set up your Face ID or Touch ID. Continue through these steps until you reach the Transfer Your Apps & Data screen. Once there, select From iCloud Backup.

Step 3: Sign in to iCloud

To proceed with restoring your iPhone from an iCloud backup, you’ll need to sign in to your iCloud account using your Apple ID and password. This step is crucial, as all your backup data is stored in iCloud and tied to your Apple ID.

Step 4: Choose the Right Backup

After logging in, you’ll see a list of available backups, along with the date and size of each one. Choose the most relevant backup based on when it was created and how much data it contains. Make sure to pick a backup that reflects the latest version of your device’s data before any issues or resets occurred.

If your iPhone prompts you to update to a newer version of iOS before restoring, follow the on-screen steps to install the update. In some cases, your device may need to be on the same iOS version as the backup to ensure compatibility.

Step 5: Restore Apps and Purchases

Once the backup is selected, the restoration process will begin. You’ll be prompted to sign in with your Apple ID again to restore any apps and purchases you’ve made through the App Store or iTunes. If you’ve used multiple Apple IDs for different purchases, you will need to sign in with each one to retrieve all your apps and media.

After the initial setup, your iPhone will restart and prompt you to finish the configuration. You can watch the video below for a better idea.
