Gmail for iOS and Android Gets Revamped Summary Cards

Google has introduced redesigned summary cards in Gmail for iOS and Android to make it easier for users to manage important details such as purchases, events, bills, and travel information.

The new cards come with action buttons that let users quickly add events to their calendars, set payment reminders, or track deliveries without sifting through multiple emails. What’s great is these cards are even easier to quickly read and identify when they appear at the top of your Gmail inbox:

The updated summary cards will show up in four main categories:

  • Purchases: Users can track packages, view order details, and stay on top of deliveries.
  • Events: Easily add upcoming events to your calendar, invite others, or get directions.
  • Bills: View and pay bills or add due dates to Google Tasks.
  • Travel: Manage reservations, check-in for flights, and view travel details like check-out times.

The update also introduces a new “Happening soon” section at the top of the inbox for quick access to timely updates, such as package deliveries. Gmail will show purchase summary cards in this section two days before an expected delivery.

The new purchase summary cards are rolling out today for individual emails on Android and iOS, while updates for events, bills, and travel cards, along with the “Happening soon” section, will be rolled out in the coming months.

Google says in the future, all card categories will be shown across individual emails, ‘Happening Soon’ and in Gmail search, so finding easier will be much faster. We definitely welcome this new change to Gmail, which is way better than Apple’s Mail app.
