Apple’s First Scripted Film for Vision Pro Launches Oct 10, Here’s the First Trailer

Apple has released the trailer for Submerged, the first scripted film in Apple’s Immersive Video formatting. The film will be available to view on Apple’s Vision Pro headset on October 10.

Submerged is the first immersive video in the category to be modelled after a traditional film. Up until now, the Immersive Video format has catered to sports, nature, etc. The immersive film is said to focus on the crew of a WWII submarine.

“Submerged invites viewers onto a WWII-era submarine and follows its crew as they wrestle to combat a harrowing torpedo attack,” the film’s summary reads. “This adrenaline-pumping thrill ride showcases the unique storytelling experiences made possible by Apple Immersive Video, a remarkable media format that leverages ultra-high resolution 3D video and Spatial Audio to put viewers in the center of the action.”

You can check out the short trailer below. Submerged is due to release on Thursday, October 10th at 12 PM ET/ 9AM PT.

The immersive film was written and directed by Edward Berger. For the uninitiated, Berger is an Academy Award-winning filmmaker. His resume includes his world on films such as All Quiet on the Western Front, Jack, Your Honor, and the upcoming film Conclave.

It’ll be interesting to see where Apple goes from here in supporting more Immersive Videos for Vision Pro. The company is investing pretty heavily in content for the headset, including series like Boundless. The Cupertino company has also released its Super Bowl LVIII short for users.

Submerged will be viewable on the Apple TV app on Vision Pro once available later this week.
