Rogers Wins Discovery Channels Battle as Bell Drops Legal Fight

Friends don’t fight friends, right? Today, Rogers confirmed it will be the new home of Warner Bros. Discovery’s English-language U.S. lifestyle and factual TV channels in Canada, starting January 1, 2025.

Rogers plans bring these channels to Canadian viewers after Bell dropped its legal bid to block the content.

“We’re already home to Canada’s #1 sports network, and this partnership helps solidify our leadership in entertainment with a diverse media portfolio of TV’s most iconic brands,” said Colette Watson, President, Rogers Sports & Media, in a statement.

Rogers will be the exclusive rights holder, distributor, and ad representative for Discovery brands in Canada.

They plan to launch TV channels for Discovery and Discovery ID, and work with distribution partners to make the content accessible. Viewers will also have on-demand access to shows from Cooking, OWN, MotorTrend, Animal Planet, and Discovery Science through Citytv+ on Amazon Prime Video Channels.

The announcement comes after Bell, which previously sought an injunction in June to block Rogers from distributing Discovery channels, dropped its legal efforts, conceding that the claims were unfounded.
