Amazon Unveils All-New Kindle Lineup in Canada for 2024

The unofficial month of “tech-tober” continues, folks. Today, Amazon Canada today unveiled its latest lineup of Kindle devices, featuring several new models and upgrades aimed at enhancing the reading and note-taking experience.
“Customers love Kindle and are reading on their devices more than ever—global sales last year hit their highest in a decade with the majority of purchases by first time Kindle device owners,” said Kevin Keith, Vice President of Amazon Devices, in a statement to iPhone in Canada. “We are excited to bring our customers a completely new Kindle lineup.”
The launch includes the redesigned Kindle Scribe, a faster Kindle Paperwhite with a new Signature Edition, a new Kindle Paperwhite Kids to the Canadian market, and a new entry-level Kindle available in a fresh Matcha colour.
Kindle Scribe: A Digital Notebook and eReader in One
The new Kindle Scribe combines the features of a Kindle but offers note taking capabilities with a stylus. It has a flush-front display with new white borders and a paper-like texture, creating a natural feel when writing. The Scribe this time comes with an upgraded, battery-free premium pen, including a soft-tipped eraser designed to replicate the feel of a pencil.
- Features: 300 ppi display, new Active Canvas for in-book notetaking, and dynamic note anchoring.
- Availability: pre-orders available now starting at $499.99 CAD on Amazon.ca, launches on December 4.
Kindle Paperwhite: The Fastest Kindle Yet
The latest Kindle Paperwhite delivers 25% faster page turns and the highest contrast ratio ever offered by a Paperwhite, along with a new 7-inch display that is also the thinnest in its class. The model is waterproof and offers ample storage options. The Paperwhite has always been one of our favourites with its front-lit display and crisp text. There is also a new Signature edition that features wireless charging, auto adjusting front light and new colours.
- Signature Edition: 32GB storage, wireless charging, and auto-adjusting front light. Available in Metallic Raspberry and Metallic Black.
- Pricing: Kindle Paperwhite starts at $184.99 and can be ordered today; the Signature Edition costs $229.99. Both are available now.
Kindle Paperwhite Kids: A Reading Companion for Young Readers
Designed to encourage children to read more, the Kindle Paperwhite Kids comes with kid-friendly covers featuring Cyber City or Starfish designs and includes a 2-year worry-free guarantee. Parents will also receive a subscription to Amazon Kids+, which provides access to thousands of age-appropriate books. Previously, this Paperwhite Kids was only available in the U.S. but now it’s in Canada.
Entry-Level Kindle: Now Available in Matcha
The new entry-level Kindle offers premium features in a compact, lightweight design, making it ideal for on-the-go reading. It features faster page turns, a high-contrast 300 ppi display, and brighter front lighting. Available in Black or a new Matcha colour, it offers weeks of battery life on a single charge.
This all-new Kindle lineup debuts ahead of the upcoming holiday season. In the U.S., Amazon launched the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition for $279.99 USD. This is not available in Canada but will likely arrive in the future. Also, we may see Kindle discounts during Black Friday, so stay tuned.
Update Oct. 18, 2024: Amazon told iPhone in Canada in an email the Kindle Colorsoft remains a U.S. exclusive for now. No further details were provided.

Why isn't Canada getting the Colorsoft Kindle???
Colorsoft should be coming in a couple weeks according to the Toronto Sun https://torontosun.com/technology/personal-tech/amazon-adds-colour-to-kindle-for-first-time-in-e-readers-history
That story is a syndication piece from Bloomberg. We reached out to Amazon and will update according.
Probably due to limited stock, so they privileged the US market. Anyhow, the ColorSoft is twice the price of the Kobo Clara Color, even the paperwhite now cost about the same as the Clara Color
why isn’t the Metallic Jade colour for Paperwhite Signature edition not available in Canada? It seems available everywhere else and this colour is the one I want.
