Telus Partners with Canoo App to Support Newcomers in Canada

Telus has teamed up with the Institute for Canadian Citizenship (ICC) to help newcomers stay connected as they begin their new lives in Canada.

The partnership means Telus is offering exclusive discounts on products and services across its brands via the ICC’s Canoo app.

Telus services will be available to Canoo users, even without a Canadian credit history. These deals cover Telus, Koodo, Public Mobile, and Mobile Klinik.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Institute for Canadian Citizenship’s Canoo program to help newcomers start their journey in Canada with confidence through reliable, accessible solutions at Telus,” said Chris Datta, Vice-president, Consumer Mobility Marketing at Telus, in an issued statement.

The Canoo app offers newcomers free or discounted access to over 2,000 experiences and deals from leading Canadian brands. In order to use the app you must have obtained Canadian citizenship within the past 365 days or became a Permanent Resident in the past five years.

Canoo is funded in part by the federal government’s Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

What a fantastic decision to make sure you have even more reasons to charge Canadians who live here absurd amounts of money for things like this.

The pandering to newcomers while everyday Canadians are suffering with high bills.

These newcomers can afford the prices for goods and services while the rest of us struggle.

Wouldn't everyone have access to these things via the ICC app? What's the definition of a "newcomer". I arrived a decade ago. Still consider myself new.

Breaking: most newcomers [bought] their way into Canada this includes many so called "refugees". These days, with few exceptions these newcomers are extremely privilieged.
