Disney+ Hikes Prices Again in Canada: Here’s What It’ll Cost You
Looks like we’re seeing a price increase for Disney+ again, one year after hikes from last year.
Last year’s price increase in November was timed with the debut of an ad-supported streaming tier, that was slightly cheaper per month and did not support offline downloads and had lower video quality.
Now, Disney+ has increased prices by $1/month and also $10/year for annual plans in Canada. Check out the new 2024 prices below, according to the Disney+ website:
- Disney+ Standard with Ads: Ad-supported, 1080P Full HD, 2-device streaming, $8.99/month (+$1 increase; 13%)
- Disney+ Standard: No ads, 1080P Full HD, 2-device streaming, downloads on 10 devices, $12.99/month (+$1 increase; 8%) or $129.99/year ($10 increase; 8%)
- Disney+ Premium: No ads, 4K UHD & HDR, Dolby Atmos, 4-device streaming, downloads on 10 devices, $15.99/month ($1 increase; 7%) or $159.99/year ($10 increase; 7%)
As for the Extra Member Add-On, which lets you share access with non-household members with 1-device streaming, it costs $6.99/month for the Standard with Ads option, or $7.99/month for Standard and Premium plans.
Disney says prices apply to new subscriptions starting October 17, 2024; meanwhile, existing subscriptions will adjust to the new pricing by November 21, 2024.
In February of this year, Disney+ lost 1.3 million subscribers due to the fall 2023 price hike. It’s unclear how this latest price increase in Canada will affect membership rates.
Are you going to stick around with your Disney+ subscription, after these price increases kick in for everyone in late November?

Luckily I have the $10 Stream+ bundle with Koodo, so it hopefully offsets the increase.
Hmmmm…..Rogers has been giving us free access to Disney+ now for awhile. Wonder with these prices increases if they will stop doing that?
We can thank the streaming tax for this.
Any excuse to raise prices for services in Canada.
Such nonsense.
With all these increases I'm probably going back to sailing the seven seas
I cancelled a month ago. Crazy to think it was only $89.99 less than 5 years ago. Price increase is one thing. But there is no chance I'm paying $8 extra a month just so my kid can watch at their grandparents place as well.
