Samsung Confirms Mixed Reality Device Arrival in 2025

Samsung has revealed its plans to launch a new XR device next year. During its latest earning call for the third quarter of the year, Samsung laid out its plans to introduce mixed reality (XR) devices in 2025.
As first reported by IDC analyst Bryan Ma (via SamMobile), Samsung brought up a slide for investors that included its “2025 Outlook.” Amongst the information regarding improved connectivity across its devices, Samsung notes that “upcoming XR devices” are on the company roadmap. The undisclosed devices are said, “to further elevate user experiences in the Galaxy ecosystem.”
Beyond this, Samsung hasn’t alluded to what these devices may be. However, the company will likely be broaching some sort of wearable headset or version of XR glasses. Earlier this year, Samsung first announced its plans to develop an XR device during its Galaxy S24 unpacked event. At the time, Samsung revealed that it was working with Google and Qualcomm for its XR device.
Whatever the device shapes up to be, it will be running a new version of Android. The software will supposedly be retrofitted for XR devices and be powered by the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip. Reports also indicate that the device may use Micro OLED or OLEDoS panels with a high refresh rate. Given that it’s likely a headset, Samsung’s upcoming device may have onboard cameras.
On top of confirming the window of XR devices, Samsung also notes that 2025 will see the successor to the Galaxy S24. While not surprising, the company does have plans to release the Galaxy S25 series in the new year.
