Prime Video Gets AI Recaps, But Not Available in Canada
Prime Video just launched a new feature called X-Ray Recaps, aimed at making it easier for viewers to catch up on shows they’ve paused or haven’t watched in a while.
Essentially, X-Ray Recaps gives viewers brief, spoiler-free summaries when you need them, upon request.
Powered by generative AI, X-Ray Recaps offers short summaries of episodes, seasons, or specific moments. You can use it mid-episode or before diving into a new season to recall key plot points without searching online or accidentally spoiling the show (let’s hope not).
The feature uses Amazon’s AI technology to quickly summarize character developments, cliffhangers, and other important moments. X-Ray Recaps builds on the existing X-Ray tool, which only shows basic trivia, cast info, and more while watching.
Starting today, Fire TV users in the U.S. can try X-Ray Recaps on Amazon Originals like Daisy Jones and the Six, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Wheel of Time, and The Boys.
Support for more devices and shows is expected by the end of the year. For now, this feature isn’t available in Canada (sad trombone), but hopefully will expand here in the future. As a consolation, Fire TV Sticks are 50% off in Canada right now.
