iPhone 18 Camera Upgrades to Boost Sunny Optical’s Revenue
Sunny Optical Technology, a major player in the optical industry, is expected to experience significant growth over the next two years, driven by its increasing involvement in Apple’s supply chain.

A detailed analysis from TF International Securities’s Ming-Chi Kuo, highlights key factors that will bolster Sunny Optical’s performance, especially as Apple prepares for upcoming product launches.
One of the most promising developments for Sunny Optical is the rebound in its lens supply allocation for Apple products. In 2024, Sunny Optical’s share of Apple’s lens orders was around 5%, a relatively modest position. However, the forecast for 2025 shows a significant rise.
According to Kuo, Sunny Optical is expected to capture between 15% and 20% of Apple’s lens orders next year, thanks to the anticipated release of the iPhone 17. This next-generation iPhone is expected to be ultra-slim and feature more advanced Apple Intelligence, factors that are likely to drive an increase in iPhone shipments.
Looking further ahead, Sunny Optical is set to benefit from significant advancements in Apple’s camera technology. The 2026 iPhone 18 is expected to feature a major upgrade in its camera system, with the introduction of a variable aperture lens for the wide camera.
This technological leap will greatly enhance the photography capabilities of the iPhone, offering users more control over their photos in various lighting conditions.

Kuo belives Sunny Optical will be the primary supplier of variable aperture shutters for the iPhone 18, with Luxshare playing a secondary role. Additionally, it is expected to become the second-largest supplier of variable aperture lenses after Largan Precision.
This dual role in both shutter and lens supply is set to further boost Sunny Optical’s revenue, especially given the high average selling price (ASP) associated with these components.
