How to Capture Spatial Photos and Videos on iPhone [VIDEO]

Apple’s latest iPhone models have introduced a new way to capture and experience memories in three dimensions through spatial photos and videos.

Apple Vision Pro Spatial

With the launch of the iPhone 16 series and the iPhone 15 Pro models, users can now take spatial media that can be viewed in immersive 3D on Apple Vision Pro. This new feature brings a whole new depth to your photos and videos, offering a richer, more interactive experience.

Follow these easy steps to start capturing spatial photos and videos on your iPhone:

  • Open the Camera App: Begin by launching the Camera app on your iPhone.
  • Select Spatial Mode: Once the app is open, switch to “Spatial” mode. This mode is specifically designed to capture 3D images and videos.
  • Rotate to Landscape: For the best experience, rotate your iPhone to landscape orientation. This wide view helps capture more detail in your scene.
  • Capture a Photo or Record a Video: To take a spatial photo, tap the Spatial Photo button. To record a spatial video, press the Spatial Video button. You’ll notice that the process is very similar to capturing regular photos and videos, but the difference lies in the additional depth your iPhone will capture.

After capturing spatial photos or videos, you can view them in 3D using Apple Vision Pro. The Photos app on the headset allows you to experience the depth and layers of the scene you’ve captured, making your memories even more immersive.

If you don’t have an Apple Vision Pro you can load the Spacialify App to create 3D Side by side or anaglyph files for a wider range of viewing options. They cover that in the app.
