Apple has released Final Cut Pro 11, an update to its video editing software, available now for Mac, iPad, and iPhone.

The latest version includes new features like “Magnetic Mask,” which lets users isolate people or objects in a clip without a green screen, and “Transcribe to Captions,” an automatic captioning tool. These tools, powered by Apple’s AI technology, make editing faster and more efficient.

Final Cut Pro 11 also includes support for spatial video, allowing users to edit and enhance 3D video content for the Apple Vision Pro headset. This feature enables editors to adjust titles and video depth, and export spatial videos for viewing on Vision Pro.

“Our creative apps give artists, producers, directors, and editors around the world the tools they need to express themselves and realize their artistic vision,” said Brent Chiu-Watson, Apple’s senior director of Worldwide Product Marketing for Apps, in a statement on Wednesday afternoon.

Apple also updated Final Cut Pro for iPad with enhanced colour and light editing tools, haptic feedback for Apple Pencil, and new Live Drawing features, giving iPad users more control over video edits.

Also, Final Cut Camera, Apple’s iPhone recording app, now supports 4K at 120 frames per second and lets users preview edits with a custom look-up table (LUT) while recording.

Logic Pro, Apple’s music production software, also received an update. It now includes a Quantec Room Simulator plug-in, which lets users apply natural reverb to their recordings, a feature favoured by artists for realistic sound effects.

Final Cut Pro 11 is available for $399.99 CAD on the Mac App Store, and Logic Pro for Mac is $249.99 CAD. Both apps are free updates for existing users. Monthly subscriptions are available for iPad versions at $6.99 CAD per month, with a one-month free trial for new users.
