Bluesky Hits 15 Million Users, Rises to #1 App on iOS

Bluesky has crossed the 15 million user milestone, according to recent data. This comes after a slow exodus from X (formerly Twitter) has formed since the US presidential election.
According to data polled from a stat site tracker made by Bluesky developer Jaz. As first reported by The Verge, Bluesky now has 15.7 million users as of the time of writing. Using the Bluesky API, Jaz is able to determine that the social media platform has seen 562 million posts go live. Users have also shared a supposed 2.3 billion likes across the site.
The rise in popularity comes during a time when Elon Musk’s X platform is under heavy scrutiny. According to a recent report from The Economic Times, 115,000 US users deactivated their X accounts within 24 hours of the election. While speaking to The Verge, Bluesky COO Rose Wang said that the “majority” of new users on Bluesky are located in the US.
Bluesky is now the number one top-ranked app in Canada on the App Store. It’s followed by Uknow.AI, ChatGPT, Threads, and Temu. Anecdotally speaking, X has slipped all the way down to the 49th-ranked spot, nestled between Google Chrome and Snapchat respectively.
Bluesky and Threads have been looked at as viable alternatives to X since releasing to the public. However, Bluesky still has a ways to go to compete alongside the Meta-owned Threads. Earlier this year, it was reported that Threads hit the benchmark of 275 million monthly users, up a substantial amount since hitting 175 million earlier this year.
Bluesky is also still working towards supporting essential features. Recently, the company rolled out video support. There have also been pinned posts and custom font features available. However, other features like DMs are nowhere to be seen still.

We seen this before with Threads. I am willing to bet people will return to X/Twitter. But the extreme left will continue to use BS.
