AI-Powered Search Now Rolling out Across Xbox Platforms

Xbox is rolling out its November system update, featuring improvements and new features. One is the ability to use AI-powered search queries to better find relevant games on Xbox consoles and within the Xbox app on PC.
As detailed in a recent Xbox Wire post, AI-powered search is now being made available to global users. With the new search function, Xbox aims to “enhance accuracy” when looking for games within the Store. Rather than searching for the specific game title, users can now type in anything from ‘Cozy fishing games’ to ‘Sci-fi games with spaceships’. Using AI to power its search functions, Xbox is enabling users more freedom to find and discover new games to play. Xbox also notes that the AI search can handle typos, shortcuts, synonyms, and emojis.
News of this comes not long after, Microsoft’s first big swing with AI on Xbox. Recently the company also began to integrate AI in the form of a chatbot. An animated virtual assistant was created to support online queries, as reported by The Verge. The AI chatbot can help respond to general questions and help support game refunds.
On top of releasing AI searches, the November update rolls out the long-awaited return of friend requests. Following the limited test period, first reported in September, friend requests are now available on Xbox consoles. With this function, friend requests act as a reciprocal, invite-approved relationship between players. The follow functions will remain but provide limited information and status updates when compared to establishing a friendship with another player.
Finally, on Xbox consoles, players gain access to new gamepic options. Now you can create your own by using Achievement art or screenshots taken. You can also crop and zoom an image when setting your home background on Xbox. Over on the Xbox app on PC, the new Home experience is making its way to all users “over the coming weeks”. Once available, players can use the ‘Jump back in’ experience to quickly access the latest game they played without having to use the app.
