How to Unpair and Reset Your Apple Watch [VIDEO]
Resetting and unpairing your Apple Watch can be necessary for troubleshooting issues, preparing it for sale, or starting fresh. Apple has shared a new support video detailing how to get it done.

Using your iPhone’s Watch app is the most straightforward way to unpair and reset your Apple Watch while ensuring that the Activation Lock is removed.
- Make sure your iPhone and Apple Watch are within Bluetooth range.
- On your iPhone, navigate to the Watch app and select the My Watch tab.
- Tap All Watches, then press the info button (ℹ️) next to the watch you want to unpair.
- Select Unpair Apple Watch and confirm by choosing Unpair [Your Watch’s Name].
- For GPS + Cellular models, decide whether to keep or remove your cellular plan. Retain the plan if you plan to pair the watch again; remove it if you don’t.
- Provide your Apple ID credentials to disable Activation Lock. This ensures the watch can be used with another device.
During the process, your iPhone creates a backup of your watch settings and data, which can be restored later if you decide to re-pair the device.
If you don’t have access to the paired iPhone, you can reset your watch manually.
- Open Settings: On your Apple Watch, navigate to Settings.
- Erase All Content: Tap General, then select Reset and choose Erase All Content and Settings.
- Confirm Action: Enter your passcode if prompted, and confirm the reset.
