Moving from an iPhone to an Android device is getting way easier thanks to a new tool built directly into Android 17, explained Google today.
Announced during Samsung’s latest Galaxy Unpacked event today, Android 17 now features a native wireless migration process that removes the need to download a separate transfer app.
The upgraded transfer feature allows users to move standard data like photos, videos, contacts, text messages, and calendar entries without using a cable. It also expands support to sensitive information and system settings, including saved passwords, Wi-Fi network credentials, Google Account details, and even active eSIM profiles.
Google has already started rolling out the updated switching tool to select Pixel smartphones. The feature will also come pre-installed on Samsung’s newly unveiled Galaxy Z Flip8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 foldables, with wider availability expected across more Android devices in the near future.
