How to Track Your Holiday Packages in Gmail
With the holiday season in full swing, Gmail has introduced an updated package tracking feature designed to streamline your gift-giving and delivery process.

This new functionality integrates real-time shipment updates directly into your inbox, giving you instant access to delivery details for packages from major U.S. carriers.
The refreshed system places delivery updates within summary cards at the top of relevant emails. These cards display shipping statuses, estimated arrival dates, and other key details. Opting in is simple: you can activate it via a prompt on the summary card itself or through your Gmail settings.
To get started, open your Gmail app and navigate to Settings:
- Tap the menu (three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner.
- Go to “Settings” and choose your account.
- Under “General settings” or “Data privacy” (for iOS users), toggle on Package Tracking.
Once enabled, Gmail will automatically track shipments associated with your emails, consolidating this information in one easily accessible location. You can opt out anytime if needed.

Introduced in 2022 and enhanced this year, Gmail’s package tracking helps users avoid the stress of hunting through confirmation emails. This feature not only simplifies inbox management but also reduces the chance of missed deliveries.
Meanwhile, its been almost two weeks since Canada Post has been on a national strike, and many businesses say they’ve suffered steep financial losses as customers have had to wait for their orders.

Maybe we can turn the tables some and start collecting some data on AI?
