Fido, Koodo and Virgin Increase Prices by Up to $15

With Black Friday and Cyber Monday behind us, the flanker brands of Rogers, Telus and Bell have increased prices “back to normal”.

We didn’t see any US and Mexico roaming plans from Fido, Koodo or Virgin Plus, only the perk of US and international long distance calling. The best deals were from Freedom Mobile, as their plans included North American roaming for talk, text and data, along with international roaming perks included.

Telus-owned Public Mobile did add US and Mexico roaming, which was probably the best choice for most seeking this from a ‘Big 3’ network.

With promos over, here are the current prices from Fido, Koodo and Virgin Plus. You can see prices increased from $5 to $15 per month depending on the plan:

Fido

  • $44/60GB with US calling (was $34; up $10)
  • $49/80GB with long distance to 7 countries (was $44; up $5)

Fido removed the $39/100GB plan with US calling.

Koodo

  • $39/20GB (was 100GB; loss of 80GB)
  • $44/40GB (new)
  • $49/60GB (was $34; up $15)

The $39/100 plan was removed.

Virgin Plus

  • $39/60GB with US calling (was $34; up $5)
  • $44/100GB with US calling (was $39; up $5)

When Boxing Day sales arrive, we likely will see prices magically drop again and the Black Friday and Cyber Monday pricing reappear, yet again.

I got the chatr annual plan this black Friday. Total 30 gigs ( 2.5 a month ) Unlimited slow data when gigs are out $149 or $12.50 a month. Not feeling the pinch. There is great deals out there. Renews with extra 5 gigs.
