Tesla’s Apple Watch App Now Available for Download: Here’s How

Tesla has officially rolled out its Apple Watch app as part of iOS version 4.39.5, available now in Apple’s App Store.
This update fulfills a promise made during the 2024 Holiday Update announcement, allowing Tesla owners to control their vehicles directly from their Apple Watch (via Tesla North).
The app lets users pair their watch as a key and access features such as starting/stopping charging, locking/unlocking doors, opening the frunk, checking the state of charge, managing climate controls, and more. It also functions as a phone key, enabling users to unlock and start their Tesla without their iPhone.
Additionally, the Tesla app update includes the ability to view and save Dashcam and Sentry Mode clips via the app under Security > Dashcam Viewer (not working just yet).
To install, ensure your Tesla app is updated to the latest version, then use the Watch app on your iPhone to add the Tesla app. As for Apple Watch complications, you can add vehicle state of charge. Other complications are available for Powerwall and solar users, such as home usage, Powerwall status, solar generation, solar offset and self powered.
Here’s the early caveat: full functionality requires Tesla’s 2024.44.25 holiday software update for vehicles. Without it, attempting to use features will display the message “vehicle software update required.” So Tesla owners still need to wait for the holiday software rollout for this to be working as intended, but you can prep in the meantime.
