Google Pixel 9a Breaks Cover: Specs Leaked

Google unveiled its Pixel 9 lineup, including the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, back in August. With the six-month mark from the Pixel 9 family’s launch soon approaching, the release of the series’ final and pocket-friendliest member, the Pixel 9a, appears to be on the horizon.
The folks over at Android Headlines have managed to get their hands on a detailed spec sheet for the Pixel 9a, giving us insight into what Google’s next-gen budget offering will reportedly have in store. While unofficial, these specs are as accurate as leaks can be, considering the publication claims they were obtained from a wireless carrier and confirmed by a secondary source.
Here are the juiciest bits from Android Headlines‘ Google Pixel 9a spec sheet:
- Google Tensor G4 processor with Titan M2 dedicated security chip
- 8GB LPDDR5X RAM
- 128/256GB UFS 3.1 storage
- 6.285-inch AMOLED Actua Display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2,700/1,800 nits of peak/HDR brightness, protected by Gorilla Glass 3
- 48-megapixel GN8 Quad Dual Pixel primary camera with an aperture of ƒ/1.7
- 13-megapixel Sony IMX712 ultrawide camera with an aperture of ƒ/2.2
- IP68 water- and dust-resistance rating
- 5,100mAh battery
It looks like the Pixel 9a will pack much of the same main hardware as the base Pixel 9 in a compact little package that will be lighter than its predecessor, albeit slightly taller and wider. The Pixel 9a will weigh in at 185.9g with a physical footprint measuring 154.7mm x 73.3mm x 8.9mm, compared to the 188g Pixel 8a’s 152.1mm x 72.7mm x 8.9mm.
Google’s Pixel 9a will supposedly pack a 13% larger battery than the Pixel 8a, which should make for a decent boost to battery life. The new Pixel 9a will also be able to manage a slightly faster wired charging speed of 23W, although wireless charging will remain capped at 7.5W.
We were quite impressed with the Pixel 9 and the Pixel 9 Pro in our reviews of the two phones, and if these leaks are to be believed, the Pixel 9a is shaping up to be a promising budget phone. According to the report, the Pixel 9a will come in the same colours as the vanilla Pixel 9, namely Obsidian, Porcelain, Iris, and Peony.
Android Headlines believes the Pixel 9a will start at the same price as the Pixel 8a (at least in the U.S.): $499 USD for the 128GB model. Stay tuned for Canadian pricing as we get closer to the Pixel 9a’s official launch.
