Ray-Ban Meta Glasses Get Live AI, Shazam, and Translation Features

Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are stepping up their game with the release of the v11 software update, bringing a host of new features, including live AI, real-time language translation, and Shazam music recognition.

With the introduction of live AI, the glasses gain a powerful assistant capable of interpreting and interacting with the world around you in real-time. By adding continuous video capabilities, live AI delivers more seamless and natural conversations with Meta AI.

This feature allows users to:

  • Get hands-free guidance for activities like cooking, gardening, or exploring unfamiliar locations.
  • Skip wake-up commands like “Hey Meta,” enabling easier back-and-forth conversations.
  • Reference earlier parts of your discussion or switch topics mid-session effortlessly.

Live translation is set to change the way people communicate across languages. Demonstrated by Mark Zuckerberg at Connect 2024, this feature offers instant translation of conversations between English and Spanish, French, or Italian.

  • Conversations in these languages are translated into English, which is then audible through the glasses’ open-ear speakers.
  • English speakers talking to others can also have their responses translated in real-time, visible as transcripts on their phone.

Lastly, the new Shazam integration ensures you’ll never miss identifying a great song again. By simply saying, “Hey Meta, what is this song?” the glasses will use Shazam’s technology to recognize the tune.

This feature is already live in the U.S. and Canada, offering hands-free music identification at your fingertips.

To take advantage of these updates, users need to update their Ray-Ban Meta glasses and the Meta View app to the latest versions. These features are rolling out gradually, with live AI and translation being made available to early access users initially.
