Telus Drops iPhone 16 Pro, Pro Max Prices with Bring-it-Back Deals

It looks like Telus has cut prices of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, if you’re signing up for a 24-month Bring-it-Back plan (essentially phone leasing), for both its regular pricing and Exclusive Partner Program (EPP), which are corporate plan savings.
You’ll need to subscribe to a minimum $50/100GB plan or higher to qualify for these iPhone 16 deals with Bring-it-Back:
- iPhone 16 Pro Max (EPP): $30/month, $1,079 upfront savings.
Compared to Boxing Day: Save an extra $509 upfront. - iPhone 16 Pro (EPP): $15/month, $1,130 upfront savings.
Compared to Boxing Day: Save an extra $660 upfront. - iPhone 16 Pro (Regular): $20/month, $1,010 upfront savings.
Compared to Boxing Day: Save an extra $540 upfront. - iPhone 16 Plus (Regular): $34/month, $499 upfront savings.
Compared to Boxing Day: Save an extra $69 upfront. - iPhone 16 (EPP and Regular): $12/month, $873 upfront savings.
Compared to Boxing Day: No additional savings.
How do these Bring-it-Back programs work? You pay your monthly phone plan, plus the monthly Bring-it-Back pricing above. After 24 months, you can return the iPhone, or keep it by repaying the Bring-it-Back upfront savings. In the end, you save on the overall cost of the iPhone 16 series.
Telus says you can also save an extra 50% off Apple TV+ with a Stream+ subscription, while $70 activation fees are waived if ordered online. Taxes are paid upfront or added to your next invoice.
If you’re an existing customer, you can try calling Telus customer service (and the Loyalty department) to try to negotiate a better plan with Bring-it-Back. Some people on RFD were able to get a $40/60GB shareable data plan after autopay and $15 Family discount, to go with these iPhone 16 series deals.
These are decent savings considering the iPhone 16 series was just released three months ago (Apple discounts appear to be happening earlier and earlier). Let us know if you’re going to jump on any of these deals.

I'm not sure I understand where the savings are. If I pay $30/month for an iPhone 16 Pro Max, and need to pay $1079 to keep my phone in 2 years, that amounts to $1799 for a phone that costs 1749$ when purchased directly from Apple. What am I missing?

These leasing plans are just stupid and need to go away forever.
And if my understanding is correct, these articles need to go away forever too.
It's $470 for the pro and $570 for the pro max.
Another way for these carriers to get you in.. It's not a deal, they raised the price of plan… And the keep it price is terrible. It's misleading and shouldn't be permitted. Why don't they call it what is it, stop using different words or phrases and misleading consumers.. I hear it all the time how people are confused.. Generally price of phone is also inflated… Bell does this as well, except worse.
This is correct. They list their prices higher than the MSRP, then they require plans that are more expensive than BYOP plans (for otherwise identical features). Both requirements seem anti-competitive or at least using near-monopoly market control.
Both also seem to skirt the intentions of the wireless code.
I did the breakdown on Telus site, they add charges for Sim /esim, they don’t actually mention the bring back cost in the breakdown.. Using words like bonus bring back discount, making it unclear what the return cost will be… Wireless code is basically garbage! Time to stand up for Canadian rights. The competition bureau is terrible.. Competitive pricing isn’t raising prices its lowering prices best out the competition
Why is autopay the new thing? Started with freedom which they are upfront about for most part, now all others are doing it but not mentioned it as part of the price / and or discounted price. I have caught 3 companies advertising prices without the mention of autopay credits.. Autopay is terrible especially if and when they over charge or make "mistake" billing issues. Simply put CRTC ccts whom ever is in charge of rules regulations needs to step up. Loop holes, misleading information bad advertising is gonna put me over the edge
What do they mean by "Bring it back"? Bring what back to who?
Telus. You bring it back to Telus at the end of 2 years, or they charge you the “upfront savings” if you want to keep it.
So instead of paying around $1500 for an iPhone 16 Pro (which is what I did), I could have paid $15/month x 24 months ($450) and then paid $660 at the end? Total of $1110. That’s a pretty nice savings considering Apple never offers a discount, but I bought mine on launch day, so I guess it’s too late to do this even if I wanted to.
During Black Friday (and with EPP) they offered me the buy-back lease at $10/month for a 6, plus $50 for 100GB / unlimited ($45 if I wanted to give them access to my bank account – I didn't) 5G Canada / US. No connection fee.
I'll never use anywhere close to 100GB per month, but really not all that different in plan price compared to some BYOP plans at the time – with them or others.
So over duration of contract, I'll have paid $240 for phone – and I could choose to upgrade and do it all over again, or do a buyout of an additional $380 to keep the phone. Still, that's a total of $620 – a little over half of the retail cost of a 6 from Apple. And in two years time, pretty sure that (with the possible exception of the next SE / 16E, if it exists), iPhone prices won't be anywhere near that low – and the 'features' of new phones hardly earth-shattering. I mean, I'm part of the 73% of users that have not activated Apple Intelligence on the applicable devices.
Now, I was upgrading from my iPhone Mini 12, and while a private sale would have absolutely garnered more in trade-in, Apple was offering $170 towards their $1130 iPhone 6. Telus offered less still ($120), but the trade-in became a easy swap out and effectively dropped my monthly lease to $5 / month. So $120 + $380 = $500. I figured that was a decent deal…
