Google TV is Getting Gemini AI Features, Room-Sensing Tech

Google announced today Google TV is bringing new AI-powered features to its TV experience, previewed today at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
Using the company’s advanced Gemini AI models, the updates will make interacting with your TV more natural and helpful.
You will be able to search media faster and even ask the TV questions about topics like travel, health, space, or history. The results will include videos to provide additional context. Let’s see how well Gemini can handle your specific queries, such as launching Netflix and a specific show at a certain segment in time.
Google says families can also use the TV to create personalized artwork together or control smart home devices while the TV is in ambient mode.
Jamieson Brettle, a product manager at Google, told CNET in Las Vegas that future Google TV products will have radar-like tech (instead of cameras to ensure privacy) that senses when you’re in the room. So this means you can just walk into your living room and your Google TV will turn on and show you your daily schedule such as the news and weather, for example.
The next Google TV updates will also allow users to get a quick summary of the day’s news right on their TV. These new AI features will roll out later this year on select Google TV devices. Let’s wait and see just how smart this upgraded Google Assistant will be on Google TV.
