Amazon Reveals Canada’s Most Asked Questions of Alexa in 2024

Amazon has revealed the most asked questions of Alexa in Canada throughout 2024. With some interesting stats to boot, the company peels back the ways Canadians interact with the virtual assistant.

Canadians can interact with Alexa in various ways across so many devices. Alexa is designed to assist users by answering questions, helping them add items to their Amazon shopping cart, launching different apps, and providing some entertainment with a joke or two. Amongst the different ways of interacting with Alexa, in 2024, saying “Alexa, thank you” was the number one ranked interaction out of the top 10 Alexa interactions.

In Canada, Taylor Swift fever broke out, with the artist playing a string of Eras Tour shows in Toronto and Vancouver. Taylor Swift was announced to be the number one most-played artist via Alexa and Amazon Music, with The Tortured Poets Department being the most-played album. While still in the country genre, A Bar Song (Tipsy) by Shaboozey was ranked the number one most-played song in 2024.

“Canadians are interacting with Alexa each month to learn, be entertained and get help with tasks,” said Allison Siperco, Alexa Canada Country Manager, in a statement. “From starting their day by greeting Alexa hello, to asking Alexa to help inspire them to discover new recipes, or requesting their favourite artist or genre of music, to something important to Canadians across the country – inquiring about the score of the hockey or baseball games – Alexa’s ‘most asked’ is proof that Canadians are turning to Alexa as an integral part of their daily lives.”

Other notable general requests include fun experiences like “Alexa, sing me a song” and “Alexa, flip a coin” topping the list. “Alexa, what is the population of Earth?”,  “Alexa, how long do you cook an egg for” and “Alexa, what is the value of Bitcoin?” became some of the most asked questions.
