Apple Intelligence to Support Eight Additional Languages, Update to Arrive in April

Later this spring, Apple Intelligence will begin to support eight additional languages in supported regions. As Apple CEO Tim Cook announced during the company’s Q4 2024 earnings call, these languages include French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and simplified Chinese.
According to Cook, an update to Apple Intelligence will arrive in April. This is likely to be a part of the iOS 18.4 update this spring. In addition to supporting eight new languages, Cook confirms Apple Intelligence will also introduce localized English support for users in India and Singapore. Currently, Apple Intelligence is limited to being supported in English-speaking regions around the world. Apple Intelligence is available in Canada, the US, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.
During the earnings call, Cook spoke about the importance of Apple Intelligence and its adoption. According to Cook, as more users begin to migrate to iPhone 15 devices and beyond, the AI-powered features will only become more widely used. “Once you start using the features you can’t imagine not using them anymore,” he said, according to Mashable.
Apple Intelligence’s updates to supported languages are one of the last few promises Apple initially made for the suite of AI features. Aside from this, Apple has yet to bring onscreen awareness for Siri to iPhones. The App Intent feature, which lets Siri perform new app actions, is still awaiting release. Apple has yet to include contextual knowledge across Apple Intelligence and the more common apps like Messages, Email, and Calendar.
It’s likely that these alongside the Image Playground app, which lets users generate AI images, may arrive alongside iOS 18.4. However, there’s no guarantee all will be available by the time the spring rolls around.

Apple never really respect people talking other languages than english. It is like that since forever and always will be. For french Canadians, we still miss some features introduced back in 2017 because Apple never localize them so I don't have big expectations for the April release.
