Nintendo Switch Sales Surpass 150 Million Units, According to Q3 Finanical Report

The Nintendo Switch has officially crossed the milestone of 150 million units sold. The company’s latest financial results presentation shows that Nintendo Switch has hit 150.86 million units sold throughout its lifecycle.
According to Nintendo, the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, and Nintendo Switch OLED consoles sold a collective 4.82 million units throughout FY25 Q3 (October 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024).
With the latest financial results now in, the Nintendo Switch inches its way ever so closely to surpassing the Nintendo DS handheld sales. The Nintendo DS, which launched in 2004, has amassed 154 million units. With this in mind, Nintendo Switch is currently the company’s second-best-selling console, surpassing the likes of the Wii, GameCube, and SNES.
Aside from hardware, Nintendo reports that total software sales have reached 1.35 billion units. During the last quarter, 53.7 million software units were sold. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom sold 3.91 million units while Super Mario Party Jamboree sold 6.17 million units. Mario and Luigi: Brothership sold 1.4 million units during the quarter.
Although amassing respectable hardware and software sales, Nintendo does state that its numbers were lukewarm compared to expectations. Thus, it’s lowering its full fiscal year forecast. “We have also modified our Nintendo Switch hardware and software unit sales forecast for the fiscal year,” Nintendo says.
On April 2nd, Nintendo is set to host its Switch 2 Direct. With a brief tease shown last month, all eyes are now on the new hardware and its 2025 launch. It’s likely the the company may continue to see a downward trend of hardware sales as anticipation for the new hardware rises throughout the latest quarter.
