Elon Musk’s Grok 3 Set to Debut Today with Live Demo
Elon Musk, the CEO of xAI, is set to unveil the company’s latest AI chatbot ‘Grok 3,’ during a live demonstration scheduled for 8 p.m. Pacific Time on Monday, February 17, 2025.

Musk has described Grok 3 as the “Smartest AI on Earth,” positioning it as a formidable competitor to existing AI models like OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The live demo aims to showcase Grok 3’s advanced capabilities, which have been developed to surpass current industry standards. This event will be accessible to the public via xAI’s official channels.
In parallel with the Grok 3 launch, Musk is engaged in a legal battle with OpenAI, the organization he helped establish. Musk has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, its CEO Sam Altman, and other key figures, alleging that the company’s transition from a nonprofit to a for-profit entity contradicts its original mission to develop AI for the benefit of humanity.
As part of his legal strategy, Musk has offered a $97.4 billion bid to acquire OpenAI, conditional upon the organization halting its for-profit transition. This proposal has been unanimously rejected by OpenAI’s board.
Following his departure from OpenAI, Musk founded xAI in 2023 with the goal of advancing AI technology while adhering to principles he believes are essential for humanity’s future.

Grok is so good that Musk wanted to buy OpenAI?
That offer is made for another reasone and for sure he do not expect OpenAI to sell for 100B when the first evaluation made is for 300B
the reason is easier: OpenAI is about to become a private company, and was planning to transfer all the assets from the Non-profit to the private company for a total amout of 40B worth of assets as of Jan 2025 evaluation.
If now there's an offer on the table for 100B, it means the value of the non-profit is now 100B and not 40, forcing the board of directors to talk about the offer (which they will surely reject) but also establish a new plan to transfer the assets to the private company.
If they liquidate investors for 40B, people would sue them. This will slow down OpenAI, giving time to Grok. also, everything is legal, and if they accept it would be the deal of the century, as he would triple that investment in a matter of months.
No cons for him to offer that amount of money, only downsides for OpenAI
