My Nintendo Gold Points to be Discontinued March 25

Nintendo has announced it is discontinuing its ‘My Nintendo Gold Points’ program next month. As of March 25th, 2025, at 1:30 PM (local), the Gold Point program will no longer be awarded with purchases in most cases.
This week, Nintendo published a notice to users, confirming the status of the discontinuation. “We are pleased to announce that the My Nintendo points program will end the awarding of My Nintendo Gold Points,” the translated page states. Although Nintendo will cease to allow players to earn more Gold Points, those who already have a stockpile can continue to use them when purchasing games.
Nintendo confirms that Gold Points already accumulated can continue to be used toward future purchases. All Gold Points are honoured for 12 months after receipt. Additionally, there are certain scenarios where Gold Points will be awarded to players, Nintendo explains.
The company goes on to explain that Gold Points will awarded if they preorder a downloadable product before March 25th. My Nintendo Gold Points can also be awarded if players purchase a packaged version of a game released before the expiration date. Finally, Gold Points will be granted to players if they purchase select consoles at My Nintendo Store before the discontinuation date. The eligible consoles include:
