iRobot Issues ‘Going Concern’ Warning Amid Financial Struggles
iRobot, renowned for its Roomba robotic vacuum cleaners, has issued a “going concern” warning, indicating substantial doubt about its ability to continue operations over the next 12 months, Bloomberg reports.

In the fourth quarter of 2024, iRobot reported an adjusted loss of $2.06 per share, surpassing analysts’ expectations of a $1.73 loss. Revenue also fell short, leading to a 42% drop in stock value to $3.66—the most significant single-day decline in the company’s history.
Despite a major restructuring in January 2024, which included reducing the workforce by over 50% and cutting product costs, financial performance remains weak. The termination of a merger agreement with Amazon in January 2024 has further contributed to the company’s challenges, with stock values plummeting over 60% since the deal’s collapse.
To address these financial difficulties, iRobot’s Board is exploring options such as refinancing debt or a potential sale. The company has engaged financial advisors Canaccord Genuity and BofA Securities to assist in this process. However, no specific timeline has been set for these decisions.
Amid these challenges, iRobot is proceeding with its largest product launch to date, aiming to stimulate revenue growth. However, uncertainties in market conditions pose significant risks to the success of this new product line.

With competitors like Roborock, Ecovacs, and SharkNinja aggressively expanding their market presence, experts believe that while iRobot’s new product launches may provide a temporary boost, they are unlikely to resolve the deeper financial issues plaguing the company.
Without a sustainable turnaround strategy, iRobot may struggle to remain a viable player in the consumer robotics space.

I hope they survive. Our two 980s are build like tanks and well designed and have been through thousands of cycles each. Only issue we noticed is phone or email support really went down hill in recent years. It was difficult to match up parts to the model numbers and even when I asked them to give me the correct part i ended up with the wrong parts so there was some waste there. I remember when we first got these 980s the support was outstanding.
