Apple’s watchOS 11.4 Update Includes ‘Break Through Silent Mode’ Feature

It’s been discovered that Apple’s upcoming watchOS 11.4 update will include a feature that’ll allow ‘Wake Up’ alarms to be recognized even if Silent Mode is selected on your Apple Watch.

According to a recent report from MacRumors, watchOS 11.4 will soon introduce the ‘Break Through Silent Mode’ feature on Apple Watch. When activated, users will then be able to enable the Wake Up alarm to break through Silent Mode, reducing the chances of you sleeping through your morning alarm.

Currently, if your Apple Watch is set to Silent Mode, the Wake Up alarm relies on haptics on the wrist to notify and wake up the user. Depending on how deep of a sleeper you are, this can easily result in missed wake-up times if the haptics aren’t strong enough to wake you alone. However, using the Break Through Silent Mode feature, the Apple Watch will then use a combination of haptics and sound to wake the user.

Once available, the Break Through Silent Mode feature is available, and users will be able to access it by navigating to the Sleep app on their Apple Watch. By selecting ‘Sounds & Haptics’, users will be able to find and toggle the setting. The feature will also be available through the Alarm app. Users will be able to turn this feature on using any active alarm you have set up.

Apple Watch’s watchOS 11.4 Release Candidate (RC) build was released to developers this week. The version shipped represents the final version of the software that’ll become available to all users in the next few weeks. It’s believed that watchOS 11.4 will be available in early April, alongside iOS 18.4.
