The Plex App Just Got a Makeover—Here’s What’s New

Plex has officially rolled out its redesigned mobile app, giving users a new experience focused on easier navigation, better visuals, and faster access to shows to watch.

The update is going live starting today and will reach all users over the next few days.

One of the biggest changes is a cleaner layout that makes it simpler to explore content and move around the app—no more digging through hidden menus. Key features like Watchlist and personal media libraries are now front and centre.

The app also includes more artwork throughout, adding a richer look to movie pages, cast profiles, and personal watch history. A new dedicated Watchlist tab gives faster access to titles across all streaming services, a feature Plex says is more popular than ever, in an email to iPhone in Canada.

For users who store their own media, there’s now a dedicated tab for libraries, with options to favourite and personalize them. Plex says this is just the beginning, with more updates on the way to bring everything together into a seamless streaming experience.

And for those watching on the big screen, a new version of the app for TV platforms is also coming soon, including for Apple TV.

Earlier this month, Plex increased the price of its Plex Pass and also ended free remote streaming. But the mobile activation fee has also been eliminated.
