Samsung has suspended the worldwide deployment of its One UI 7 update, based on Android 15, following reports of significant issues affecting Galaxy S24 series devices, The Verge reports.
The update, which began rolling out on April 7, 2025, introduced advanced AI features and interface enhancements but has now been pulled from Samsung’s servers due to unforeseen complications.
The decision to pause the rollout stems from a severe bug that prevents some Galaxy S24 users from unlocking their phones. Initially reported by users in South Korea, the issue has raised concerns about the stability of the update across different regions.
Compounding the situation, a security vulnerability has been identified in the Secure Folder feature of One UI 7. This flaw allows private photos and videos stored in the Secure Folder to become visible through the auto-generated Stories feature in the Gallery app. When a story is created, it sends a notification outside the Secure Folder, enabling access to protected media without unlocking the folder.
The pause affects several flagship models, including the Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6. Firmware versions for these devices have been removed from Samsung’s servers, and older software versions are now displayed in update listings. The issue appears to be linked to the Exynos 2400 chip used in certain models.
Samsung has acknowledged the issues and stated that the One UI 7 rollout schedule is being updated to ensure the best possible user experience.
The company has not provided a specific timeline for the resumption of the update but assures users that new availability details will be shared shortly.
