Fast food chain A&W has officially launched A&W Rewards, a new loyalty program that lets customers collect points and redeem them for free food.
You can gain points on every purchase when ordering through the A&W app or scanning a QR code at the counter.
Anyone with the A&W app is automatically enrolled, while new users can sign up by downloading the app. Points can be redeemed for A&W favourites such as burgers, fries, root beer, and breakfast items.
Customers earn 10 points for every $1 spent (before tax and after discounts). Here’s what you can get:
“Get ready to be rewarded, A&W fans! We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our brand-new loyalty program – something our guests have been asking for! Your incredible loyalty to your local A&W means the world to us, and we’re excited to finally offer a program that rewards you for every delicious visit,” said Angie Tsang, Director of Consumer Marketing at A&W on Wednesday.
Points expire 12 months after they’re earned and can’t be collected through third-party delivery platforms like UberEats, Skip, etc.
Now, this move puts A&W in line with the MyMcDonald’s rewards program from McDonald’s. Comparing both programs, A&W gives you a cashback average value of about 6%, while McDonald’s works out to about 9%. While A&W gives you lower cashback, you can redeem points sooner, whereas McDonald’s requires you to spend more upfront to unlock rewards.
