iPhone 18 Pro Said to Feature Under-Display Face ID
Apple is reportedly testing an under-display Face ID system for its upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models, potentially eliminating the need for the current Dynamic Island design.

According to a report from MacRumors, a Chinese leaker known as Digital Chat Station claims that Apple is actively testing under-display 3D facial recognition technology on prototype iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models. The leaker suggests that the new design would feature a single hole-punch camera in the display, with all Face ID hardware moved beneath the screen.
Implementing under-display Face ID presents significant engineering challenges. Face ID relies on projecting and reading thousands of infrared dots to create a detailed depth map of the user’s face. However, OLED panels naturally block or scatter much of this infrared light, making it difficult for the system to function properly under the screen.
To overcome this, Apple is likely testing ways to allow more infrared light through specific parts of the display while minimizing distortion and maintaining image fidelity.
This isn’t the first time rumours have surfaced about under-display Face ID. Another report from The Information over the weekend also suggested that Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro models would likely feature under-screen Face ID, with only a small hole in the top-left corner of the screen to accommodate the front-facing camera.
The iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to launch in 2026, and if these reports are accurate, the devices could mark a significant design shift for Apple’s flagship smartphones.

By moving Face ID components beneath the display, Apple would be able to offer a more immersive viewing experience without compromising on biometric security.

Unfortunately I don't trust Apple anymore : Siri, Airpower, blood pressure, etc.
Yet here you are on this page
Apple, just give us the cameras and specs like the Oppo Find X8 Ultra. At the current rate of improvement, we probably need to wait till iPhone 26 Pro Max..lol.
The specs isnt the whole story. Its the camera chip that matters the most for picture quality
You should check out the camera and image quality on the Oppo Find X8, which has four rear cameras, with one of which uses a 1-inch sensor. The battery is 6100 mAh (Si-Carbon) battery. Wired charging up to 100W, and Wireless up to 50W are available. Apple loves to make small increments each year.
but yet its still running android lmao
OMG, yeah good idea "leaking" this stuff for the iPhone 18 when 17 is not even out
