Prime Video’s Fallout Series is Renewed for Season 3 Ahead of Season 2’s December Premiere

Amazon’s Prime Video has greenlit a third season of Fallout months ahead of the Season 2 premiere. The video game adaptation returns to the streaming service this December, according to reports.

The second season of Fallout will “pick up in the aftermath of Season One’s epic finale and take audiences along for a journey through the wasteland of the Mojave to the post-apocalyptic city of New Vegas,” according a description included in a recent Varierty report.

Unfortunately, there’s no word on when Season 3 of Fallout will premiere on Prime Video. However, given the early renewal, it suggests Prime Video may want to start production sooner in order to maintain a cadence of release.

Season 1 of Fallout released on April 10th, 2024. Based on the iconic video game franchsie from Bethesda Gameworks, Fallout depicts the post apocaltypse set in an alternative history. The series follows three characters including Ella Purnell’s Lucy MacLean, a vault dweller who has left the security of her community’s shelter to find her kidnapped father, played by Kyle Maclachlan. Along the way, Lucy comes across Maximus, a member of the Brotherhood of Steel, played by Aaron Moten as well as Walton Goggins’s Cooper Howard aka The Ghoul, a former Vault-Tec exec.

The series is developed in partnership with Bethesda Softworks, with Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet working as showrunners. Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy act as executive producers alongside Fallout game director Todd Howard.

“We are absolutely thrilled that our global Prime Video customers will be able to delve deeper into the wonderfully surreal and captivating world of Fallout,” said Vernon Sanders, head of television, Amazon MGM Studios. “Jonah, Lisa, Geneva, and Graham have done an exceptional job bringing this beloved video game franchise to vivid life on Prime Video.”

The first season of Fallout left players waiting on bated breath as it was revealed that the series would be headed towards New Vegas, a fan-favourite destination in the series. As Lucy continues to pursue her father, New Vegas is shown to be her next destination with The Ghoul in tow.

Fallout has already amassed more than 100 million viewers worldwide. According to Amazon, it’s now ranked in the top three most-wated titled ever on the service.
