Microsoft OneDrive and SharePoint Get ChatGPT Integration

OpenAI has introduced a beta feature that allows ChatGPT’s Deep Research tool to connect directly with Microsoft OneDrive and SharePoint, enabling users to analyze and extract insights from their stored documents seamlessly.

With this new capability, users can link their Microsoft OneDrive or SharePoint accounts to ChatGPT’s Deep Research. Once connected, the AI can access and analyze files in real-time, providing detailed, cited responses based on the content of these documents.

This integration is particularly beneficial for professionals who rely on extensive documentation, such as financial reports, project plans, or research papers.

The integration is currently in beta and available to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Team users. However, it is not yet accessible to users in the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the UK. OpenAI plans to extend this feature to Enterprise users in the near future.

To utilize this feature, users can navigate to the Deep Research section within ChatGPT, select either SharePoint or OneDrive, and authorize access by logging in and choosing the specific folders for ChatGPT to read. Administrators overseeing Microsoft 365 environments can approve the ChatGPT connector through a standard OAuth consent process.

When connected, ChatGPT generates search queries based on user prompts to locate relevant information within the linked Microsoft document libraries. These queries are sent to Microsoft to retrieve the necessary data. For instance, a prompt like “Show me the Q1 financial summary for North America” would result in ChatGPT searching the connected documents for pertinent information.

By enabling ChatGPT to access and analyze data from widely used platforms like OneDrive and SharePoint, OpenAI aims to streamline workflows and improve productivity for its users.
