PlayStation Stars Loyalty Program Shutting Down July 23, Points Redeemable Until November 2026

PlayStation Stars is officially being shut down, three years after it was first introduced within the ecosystem. Starting now, the loyalty program is no longer accepting new members as it’s being sunset in November 2026.
Current PlayStation Stars members are still able to earn Digital Collectibles, as revealed in the PlayStation Blog. The company states that the ability to earn new points and level up will continue to be supported from now until July 23, 2025. Afterwards, no new campaigns will be released. Thus, PlayStation Stars members will no longer be able to obtain new rewards or status benefits.
When discussing the shuttering of PlayStation Stars, the blog states that it will “be winding down the current version of PlayStation Stars.” The phrasing of this indicates that the loyalty program may be brought back in a new form down the road. “Since launching the program, we’ve learned a lot from evaluating the types of activities our players respond best to, and as a company, we are always evolving with player and industry trends…We will continue to evaluate our key findings from this program, and are looking into ways to build upon these learnings.”
PlayStation Stars will be kept alive in some fashion until November 2, 2026. Current members of the loyalty program will be able to continue to redeem points up until that time. However, this only applies to PlayStation Stars points that haven’t already expired. Additionally, members of the loyalty program will have to ensure they remain active members. According to PlayStation, if a member cancels their status from today onward, they’ll no longer be able to rejoin and will lose all points earned.
PlayStation Stars first launched in July 2022. It was designed to incentivize players to complete campaigns and purchase new games in order to receive points to use on PSN credits or other in-game currencies. However, in 2024, PlayStation made some controversial changes to the rewards system, altering how many points it would take to earn credits.
PlayStation Stars also largely incorporated Digital Collectibles. When completing campaigns, players would be awarded small virtual trinkets, reminiscent of NFTs to display within the PS mobile app. The feature never felt fully realized as there weren’t any social aspects to sharing your collection off or integrating them into the PlayStation 5 console experience.
