Nintendo Switch Online N64 Games Getting New Features on Switch 2

Nintendo has announced that a small collection of new features is coming to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack for N64 titles. However, two of the three announced features will be locked to Nintendo Switch 2.
On June 5, Nintendo will be releasing three new features for N64 games that Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers can take advantage of. This includes the ability to create customizable controls. This feature will be available across both the original Nintendo Switch console and the currently unreleased Nintendo Switch 2.
However, there are two Nintendo Switch 2-exclusive features that’ll launch on June 5. The first is the ‘Rewind’ feature. As detailed by Nintendo, Rewind allows players to literally rewind their gameplay and try again if they made a mistake. The game takes snapshots of gameplay moments every few seconds, so if you make a mistake, fail a level, or want to try a different tactic, you can go back to a specific moment.
The second Nintendo Switch 2-exclusive feature is the CRT screen filter. As you can imagine, using this will give the game that’s being played an older, nostalgic look. This filter recreates the look of playing on an old CRT TV. Recreate the days of playing N64 games in the late 90s with this filter.
In July, Nintendo released its Rewind and CRT screen filter features for NES and SNES games within the Nintendo Switch Online library. So, it’s cool to see the feature arrive for N64 games, albeit locked to Nintendo Switch 2. The company hasn’t said why these features will only be available for other new hardware. However, the company is likely using it as another incentive to upgrade to Nintendo Switch 2.
An annual subscription to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack is available for $63.99 in Canada. Additionally, Nintendo offers a 12-month Family Membership, including up to eight accounts, for $99.99. Recently, the company released Killer Instinct Gold on the service.
