Opera Neon AI Browser Does the Work for You—Literally

Opera has introduced a brand-new AI-powered browser called Opera Neon that will do work for you.
Unlike typical browsers, Neon is designed to understand what you want to do—and then actually do it for you, thanks to an AI agent, which is all the rage right now.
AI agents essentially will understand what you need done and do it step-by-step, saving you time when it comes to things like booking tickets or making a restaurant reservation. Google’s Gemini will soon have an agent mode to do things for users as well.
Opera says with Neon, it goes beyond just helping you search. Its built-in AI agents can chat with users, summarize web pages, and carry out tasks like filling out forms, booking hotels, or online shopping, directly within the browser. These features run locally, meaning your private data stays on your device.
Neon is also capable of creating things from scratch. That could mean building a game, generating a report, or designing an entire website. These more complex tasks are handled by cloud-based agents that keep working even if you’re offline.
“We’re at a point where AI can fundamentally change the way we use the internet and perform all sorts of tasks in the browser. Opera Neon brings this to our users’ fingertips,” said Henrik Lexow, Senior AI Product Director at Opera, in a statement on Wednesday. “We see it as a collaborative platform to shape the next chapter of agentic browsing together with our community.”
Opera Neon is a paid, premium product, and people interested can join a waitlist now on the Opera website (it’s rolling out soon with invite-only access). Let’s wait and see it’s wide release to decide if people will put their money down for this, versus other AI agents coming our way shortly.
