Apple’s Shortcuts Apps to Get Apple Intelligence Integrations

Apple is reportedly planning to refresh its Shortcuts app with Apple Intelligence features. Maintaining the narrative thread of integrating AI across its first-party software, Shortcuts may soon allow users to create actions using Apple Intelligence.

Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman reports that a new version of Shortcuts is on the horizon. Leveraging Apple Intelligence, Shortcuts could support users in creating actions with AI. These actions may be created using natural voice commands. In an ideal sense, users will find the process of creating actions more streamlined and easier to master.

Shortcuts has largely been seen as an intimidating piece of software for users. The app supports the creation of custom actions or workflows on Apple devices. In many senses, users can create automatic actions. Many users leverage Shortcuts to control smart home devices. However, Shortcuts also support a level of autonomy for sending messages and performing other useful actions. However, to set up a custom action, it takes a lot of know-how and many steps.

Through the use of Apple Intelligence, users could theoretically have AI manage their shortcuts and create these actions automatically. This could prove to be very tantalizing for more casual or novice users of Shortcuts.

Gurman claims that the Shortcuts refresh was in development to release sometime this year. However, thanks to internal delays, Apple may end up releasing it in 2026. So, don’t expect it to be prominently discussed during WWDC 2025, which starts June 9.
