Bell Media is making a strategic investment in independent production company Blink49 Studios, known for producing both scripted and unscripted content across Canada, the U.S., and Europe.

The deal, expected to close this fall, will deepen the two companies’ existing relationship and includes a new production and distribution partnership alongside global studio FIFTH SEASON. The investment comes through Bell Ventures, the media company’s innovation and entrepreneurship arm.

“This investment is another significant step in our continued efforts to enhance the reach of Canadian creatives and deliver impactful storytelling that resonates at home and abroad,” said Sean Cohan, President, Bell Media, in a statement.

Blink49 CEO John Morayniss called the move “an exciting new chapter,” saying it will help the studio grow its lineup of shows and expand its reach in Canada and internationally.

Blink49, which was founded in 2021, has worked with Bell Media on projects like Don’t Even, Late Bloomer, Sight Unseen, The Trades, and upcoming shows Blue Collar and Yaga. Other Blink49 titles include Wild Cards, Beast Games, and the docuseries Queen of the Castle.

The investment aims to strengthen Blink49’s production pipeline and global distribution. Bell recently told the CRTC outdated rules are hurting Canadian broadcasters. Bell’s streaming service Crave now has over 4 million subscribers.
