Which Apple Watches Support watchOS 26? See the Full List
Apple today announced watchOS 26, its latest software update for Apple Watch, during its WWDC 2025 keynote. The update brings a refreshed design, new features like a wrist-flick gesture to dismiss alerts, and a new AI fitness coach called Workout Buddy.
The update will be available this fall and is free for supported devices.
Apple Watches that support watchOS 26 are below:
- Apple Watch Series 6
- Series 7
- Series 8
- Series 9
- Series 10
- Apple Watch SE (2nd gen)
- Apple Watch Ultra
- Apple Watch Ultra 2
Older models, including Series 5, Series 4, and the first-gen SE, will not be able to install watchOS 26. Dropped.
Some of the more advanced features—like the wrist-flick gesture and AI tools such as Workout Buddy—will only work on newer models like Series 9, Series 10, and Ultra 2. These features also require an iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, or newer because of Apple Intelligence requirements.
A public beta is coming in July, with the full release expected in the fall alongside new Apple Watch hardware. Today, developers have access to watchOS 26 beta 1. Did your Apple Watch make the cut?

The Wrist-flick feature will require newer phones and Apple Intelligence? Why, exactly?
Looks like another case of PT Barnum School of Retail Humbug applied.
Oh no no you see the accelerometers have been upgraded to uhhh hyper ultra mega accelerometers which can better figure out very difficult things like whether the watch face is up or down.
