Walmart Canada Says It’s Cutting Prices on Food and Electronics
Walmart Canada says it has cut the prices of hundreds of grocery and household items this year, as the cost of living continues to rise across the country.
Since February, the retailer has lowered prices on everyday essentials such as fresh produce, ground beef, cheese, bottled water, toilet paper, shampoo, and more.
The company claims that a typical Canadian family of four could save over $450 annually by doing their weekly shopping at Walmart instead of other major grocery chains. That figure is based on internal comparisons but has not been independently verified, and is equal to over two weeks of groceries, claims Walmart.
The changes are part of Walmart’s broader pricing strategy, which focuses on maintaining steady, lower prices across commonly purchased products rather than relying on short-term discounts.
“Since 1994, we’ve been helping Canadians save money and live better with every day low prices. At a time when Canadians are feeling more financially stretched than ever, we’ve lowered the price of hundreds of key items across our stores and website,” said Venessa Yates, president and CEO, Walmart Canada, in a statement on Monday.
In addition to the new prices, Walmart has rolled out over 8,000 “Rollback” offers for the summer on items like clothing, electronics, and health products—temporary discounts that reduce prices even further. There’s nothing better than seeing those Rollback signs at Walmart, am I right?
“We want Canadians to know we’re working hard to help them save, especially at a time when many are struggling to make ends meet. We know we might not win every day on every single item, but customers can trust that on their total grocery shop they will save money at Walmart,” added Yates.
Walmart also pointed to savings on its in-house brands, which it says are generally about a third cheaper than national brands, as well as subscription programs like “Subscribe to Save” and same-day grocery delivery for members of its Delivery Pass.
Time to don your Walmart wardrobe and investigate what these savings really are. Let us know in the comments.

For most things, there is no cheaper than Walmart…
LIES. Super C and Maxi regularly come out cheaper than Walmart and Walmarts own prices today are higher for the same product last year.
