Meta and Oakley Teasing New Smart Glasses Reveal on June 20

Meta and Oakley are teasing a product reveal on June 20. It’s likely this will be when the two companies announce a new pair of smartglasses, beyond Meta’s partnership with Ray-Ban.

On Instagram, and Oakley | Meta page has been discovered (first seen by UploadVR).  In its debut post, a brief tease was made stating, “The next evolution is coming on June 20.” The video has since been reposted by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

The branding of the page is very similar to the Ray-Ban | Meta page used to promote the Ray-Ban Meta smartglasses, which were first released in 2023. Beyond the teaser, the account page does not indicate any other information.

With all of this in mind, we’re likely to hear an expanded partnership with Meta and EssilorLuxottica, which looks to be including Oakley. Earlier this year, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Meta and Oakley were preparing to launch a new pair of smartglasses. Unlike the Ray-Ban Metas, the Oakley glasses would be targeting cyclists and athletes.

It’s believed that the new pair of smart glasses will offer a center-mounted camera lens, rather than the camera built into the arm of the device.

Earlier this year, it was announced that over 2 million units of the Ray-Ban Meta device have been shipped, making them an overall success for both companies. Meta also has plans to scale production of its device to 10 million units by the end of 2026.

As far as ongoing support, Meta has been integrating its smart glasses with new technologies. This includes the adoption of real-time translation capabilities. There’s no word on whether the Oakley Meta smart glasses will offer exclusive features or be in close relation to the Ray-Ban models.
